The Living Room Demo

Original wallpaper found behind the walls of the living room
I’m about to sound smart, but I really learned this from Chad. This pic shows the original level line for the trim.
I cannot believe how nicely preserved all this old wallpaper is. Granted, you can see damage, but even still, it’s pretty well intact.
See the bunch of stuff that looks like a wad of something that shouldn’t be there? That’s newspaper. That’s how they tried to insulate the walls, with wadded up newspapers. You learn a lot of history when you rip a house apart.
More original wallpaper. This is from the living room looking into the spare bedroom.
My dad said he can still picture my great grandfather, lying in his casket, in this room and this is how the walls looked, then.
My great grandmother’s handwriting on the wall, on the back porch/pantry area. She used to set turkey eggs to hatch and this is her record.
More of Nanny’s handwriting
They got the mantle off, but the bottom of the fireplace did crack and had to be fixed in the rebuild.
I see some old wood peeping through
Yep, the blinds are still up! They will stay up as long as possible. No peeping!
Dad checking things out - notice how much lower he is than the bottom of the door. He’s standing on dirt.
Looking from the master bedroom into the living room.
I will post the video separately since Facebook wants to remove my posts for embedded spam if I attempt to add them to the blog and share.
