I’m Floored!

Fast forward to February 7-8

The rest of January was slow going - rain, waiting on temps to rise enough for concrete to set, etc.

February ushered in subfloors!

We don’t have any walls, but we’ve got subfloor down for the pantry & bathroom.

Piers and Plumbing

Wait, let me see if I get this right…From the left we have pantry/laundry room,  with a cased doorway that goes on to the right to a missing wall. Then we have the new entry way? Yep, that’s right! That pantry, though!

From the bathroom looking out toward the pantry. Oh the open air sh***er jokes we had!

The dining room, from the kitchen.

Reliving the pantry rebuild and thinking of all the yummy goodness that’s going to come forth, from that appliance counter has me thinking of an Abbie story.

One time, Abbie made some coconut pies and sent one to the house. Keep in mind, she loved to make pineapple-coconut pies and she made them almost weekly. They are really good, but sometimes you just want a plain coconut pie. This particular pie that day was just a regular old coconut pie and I was really looking forward to eating it. I cut a piece, took a big ol bite and it had the worst taste ever.

Turns out, earlier that day, she had called herself cleaning the oven and I don’t know what she did, but bless it, she had made “coconut pie, with a hint of oven cleaner.” Apparently, she sprayed oven cleaner in the oven and didn’t let it burn off because it burned off in my pie! I haven’t eaten a piece of coconut pie since.
