Wash Pots and More Bang for My Buck

January 10-13

I’m starting to question why I still don’t see a foundation happening for my missing bathroom, pantry and enclosed back porch that was torn off.

Clearly, we’re all not on the same page here. Does this house look whole? My inner little mean child is ready to come out and play. I’ve already made comments about all the crew leaving Chris by himself, working on the foundation. Safe much? The excuse was they didn’t have lights.

“Lights?! This is a farm. What kind of lights do they need?!” -I didn’t mean to say it out loud, but it came out anyway. Ok, yes I did. I meant every word and I enunciated clearly because I’m paying good money for labor and that’s just being a slacker!

You gotta do what you gotta do to hold it together

I’m still not seeing all my foundation so what you mean you’re going to jack it up? You are NOT done.

I was on the very edge of sanity, almost ready to act a fool, when Chris told me he didn’t know anything about rebuilding the bathroom, pantry and back porch foundation. Excuse me?! Somebody better tell me something because it’s got to go back on!

I had to have a conversation with my lead. He was still off riding the range with Festus, looking for “Sheriff Big Fist” (that’s a nod to Aunt Bee if you don’t know your Gunsmoke and Andy Griffith Show characters and lines.) Steve promptly calmed me down, told me not to worry and then proceeded to tell me he was just going to build me a fire and hang a wash pot in the backyard. He got jokes!

Then, this happened. It’s a tiny bit- no a lot larger than I anticipated. They decided not to waste parts of the 10 foot boards and now, I have a pantry to die for!

In Chad speak that pantry is #thirdbedroom sized

Steve calls it “more bang for my buck.”

Now, we’ve all made me happy and it’s the one and only time I ever got mad about anything through the entire process. I’m big on communication and the wires just weren’t connecting between crews.

All was well, except the dang torrential rains that wouldn’t seem to stop.

Oh the cakes I’m going to mix up in that pantry! 😍
