Where’s the Beef?!

Preparing for the new siding and the new front porch

Down to the original house. When I was growing up, this is what the house looked like. Vinyl siding wasn’t put on it until the very late 90s or early 2000s.

The wrap is going on

It’s almost like a present being wrapped and what a gift it has turned out to be!

Everybody always wanted to give me grief when they heard I was tearing the front porch off. I mean from the road it looked amazing. Up close was a different story. It wasn’t even on the foundation, in places and you were truly taking a risk if you walked on it.

True story, the man who built the original porch, got drunk during the build. When my grandaddy got home, the porch wasn’t even built against the house. When he called the man’s hand about it, the guy got in his car and used his bumper to push the porch against the house. Being the man my Grandaddy was - meek and didn’t want to cause trouble- he let it go. He shouldn’t have, but I take more after my grandma, so there’s that. (I trust the heck out of my Reno team, but I still checked progress every day. I took pictures every day. I didn’t even get to rip anybody a new one. They truly are the BEST!!)

Bracing the porch roof, to replace those sorry as heck puny columns, the originals were replaced with. Good riddance! We need some beefy columns up in here!

A video will follow if I can get it to upload. The file is too big, even if I split it, for this post.
